IN EVERY LIFE A LITTLE RAINES MUST FALL
and his campaign to make the New York Times
the keystone of political and cultural opposition to the Bush administration is at an end. Undone by arrogance, slipshod standards, adherence to ideology over journalistic ethics and frustration that the blogosphere stripped Raines of the power to set the standard for " legitimate news " that the Times once possessed as the paper of record. Andrew Sullivan
in particular deserves credit for hammering at the unreality and reflexive liberal orthodoxy that prevailed under Raines.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
