COMPETITION IN CYBERSPACE [ UPDATED]
One rap that liberal critics have had on the Bush administration is that they have been " anti-science ". I would say that deferring to the wackier religious right fringe on a few hot button social issues that are really scientific in nature and a narrow national security focus that sees power primarily in traditional military terms rather than also in the economic dimension, is a more accurate description.
Nonetheless, this myopia is going to hurt the U.S. economy in the long run if Bush administration policies regarding visas for foreign grad and doctoral students and biotech research are not modified or reversed. To that we must now add
the realm of cyberspace where it is argued that U.S. is falling behind where we once blazed the trail.ADDENDUM: Stuart Berman, a tech specialist,
