thanks for bringing Peter's work back to the party - I am a great fan of his work and feel that it has more "punch" than the use of system diagrams- or at least is a complementary way to present complex ideas holistically.

It would be nice if everyone could learn to do this - but from my experience over the past 20 years with talented graphic facilitators like Peter, these are very special artistio and ingterpretive skills not easily learned.

There are hundreds of graphic facilitators like Peter and we should be enlisted their support in the work we are attempting - what do you think?

I say: let's get graffiti artists as well! Perhaps not spray-painted on walls, however ;) But it would be more hip, and there is a lot of creativity as well as social and political awareness among graffiti artists.

I think there's two levels.

" Learning to do this" in terms of the learning aspect which is crude but useful as a classroom teaching tool but is not presentable or interesting for our purposes.

And then there is " Doing it well" on Peter's level, which we need and is presentable in a public forum. I am totally in agreement with you - what Peter makes look effortless is really an example of a high degree of skill that takes years of practice.

I say a strong "yes" to adding the graphic facilitators alongside the modelling -preferably with contrasting artistic styles but that's secondary to quality/experience.
 

I am a big fan of the 3 book (so far) "Cartoon History of the World" series.

I refresh stats knowledge using the Cartoon Guide to Statistics (the instructor for my stats class suggested it years ago in grad school).
